Developing museum activities & workshops

 
 
 

My current work in the museum sector has offered awesome opportunities to co-create accessible activities & workshops for folx from around the world - especially youth and children.

Below is a sample of said activities and workshops from 2022-present, in collaboration with my team. More on the process of some of these projects are in the works!

I’m currently a member of the Ontario Museum Association as well, where I aim to grow my skillet through their programs & studies - particularly through Exhibit Planning & Design through their Certificate in Museum Studies program.

Designing speaker series

 

Stories from a Distance (2020-2021): A virtual program designed at the beginning of the pandemic to support students in an open and inclusive setting

Stories through Research (2021-2022): a virtual series designed to highlight student research, and provide an opportunity for students to connect with individuals in their industry

Student Life Professionals Conference (2020): A day-long conference, coordinating 15 speakers at the University of Toronto & a team of 12 volunteers to support event planning - with approx. 250 attendees.

Nature Talks - In-person series (2018): designed the first facet of a multi-series event to discuss important aspects of conservation and climate change.

Coordinating community projects

 

Spring Tide Project (2020-2022) - virtual: designed creative & virtual opportunities for youth to discuss the climate crisis and imagine what’s possible.

Working at the Innovation Hub (2020-2022) - virtual: A ongoing hiring event for new students & community partners to learn about our work in depth.

Who are our students - speaker series (2019) - in person: A collaborative speaker series with the Innovation Hub for students and staff to come together and discuss who our students are, and they need.

World Ocean Day (2018) - in person: A fundraising life painting event with the community for World Ocean Day, in collaboration with artist Wyland & the Wyland Foundation (raised over $5000 through the community)

Birds Eye View Travelling Exhibit (2018) - in person: a pop-up style exhibition that toured Victoria, B.C. - included community partnerships, collaborations, and working with local community spaces.

CAUCUSS Big Ideas Pecha Kucha: Centering the Who in Design (2021): A Pecha Kucha presentation where I spoke about my journey in design thinking, and how we can centre the who in design thinking to create change

Collaborations for Change - Co-Creating Change for Student Mental Health through Listening, Learning, and Inspiring (2021) with Julia Allworth and Johanna Pokorny: A dialogue we had with higher education professionals on meaningfully supporting students to inspire change and innovation for mental health

N x N Conference: Intersections on Wellness and Academia (2019): Highlighting data-driven insights from students on wellness, academic, and potential futures.
